2017 STONES No. 1

96 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck

Coming from the Perrarus Block 1 Saint Helena, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1 is all Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in new French oak. It has a textbook bouquet from this site of ripe red and black fruits, dried flowers, loamy earth, flowery incense, and spice box, with just a hint of chocolate earth. Rich, full-bodied, and incredibly elegant, it's gorgeously balanced, with no hard edges and a great finish.

2016 STONES No. 1

98 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck

Coming from the Perrarus Block 1 Las Piedras Vineyard, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1 offers more black fruits, camphor, crushed rocks and graphite, with an almost Haut Brion-like cold fireplace character. It’s another full-bodied, seamless, layered wine from this estate that ticks all the right boxes. With building tannins, a multi-dimensional texture, thrilling purity, and a huge finish, it’s up with some of the top wines in the vintage and is an awesome, awesome wine.

Drink 2019 – 2044.

97 PTS ~ Robert Parker WA

The 2016 Stones No. 1 – Very deep garnet-purple, it has wonderful purity of cassis, fresh black plums and crushed blackberries notes with touches of lavender,
mocha, cigar box, underbrush and fungi plus a waft of rose hip tea. Full-bodied and firm with very finegrained tannins supporting the generous, wonderfully
vibrant fruit layers, it finishes long and perfumed.

Drink 2023 – 2052.

97 PTS ~ Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Very deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Stones No. 1 conjures notions of baked cherries, plum pudding and cloves. Full-bodied, rich and spicy in the mouth, it has a chewy frame and a lovely earthiness coming through on the long finish.

2014 STONES No. 1

96+ PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The extraordinary 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from what is called clone 4. Loads of graphite, crushed rock, tobacco leaf, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit soar from the glass of this fat, opulent, decadently intense wine, which has low acidity, tremendous purity, and hedonistic appeal.

Drink 2017-2036.

2013 STONES No. 1

100 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

Absolutely perfect is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1. The wine has that Mission Haut-Brion / Haut-Brion scorched-earth, gravelly, quarry-stone aromatics intermixed with blueberry, cassis and spring flowers. It is full-bodied with magnificent texture and concentration, stunning freshness, and a terrific finish that goes on for close to a minute. This is a surreal and compelling Cabernet Sauvignon.
