Tracing its history to the original Mexican land grants, the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard’s history is integral to the Napa Valley’s rich traditions of grapegrowing and winemaking. Located in the Saint Helena appellation, the vineyard is aptly named for its rare profile of gravelly, well-draining soil, providing optimal conditions for the cultivation of highly concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.
We have selected five vineyard rows from which to produce the one-hundred fifty cases that constitute our Stones No. 1 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras Vineyard release.
One of the most coveted growing areas in all of Napa Valley, the Perrarus Block on Pritchard Hill exhibits the extreme rocky minerality that has become a signature of the Stones wines. Farmed by David Abreu, this Clone 4 selection exhibits dense, black fruit, and perfect acidities.
We have selected the Perrarus Block from which to produce the one-hundred sixty cases that constitute our Stones No. 2 Cabernet Sauvignon inaugural release.
Stones is an exclusive, limited production portfolio of meticulously crafted Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Sourced from rarely experienced, distinctive Napa Valley vineyards, Stones wines offer our clientele a rare opportunity to experience the unique and varied terroir of the Napa Valley within a single, selective portfolio.
Stones wines are meticulously crafted by winemaker Philippe Melka, with a vision of expressing the distinctive character of the singular Napa Valley vineyards from which they are produced.
“The extraordinary 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1 comes from the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from what is called clone 4. Loads of graphite, crushed rock, tobacco leaf, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit soar from the glass of this fat, opulent, decadently intense wine, which has low acidity, tremendous purity, and hedonistic appeal. Drink it over the next 20 years.”
