2014 STONES No. 1

96+ PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The extraordinary 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1 comes from the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from what is called clone 4. Loads of graphite, crushed rock, tobacco leaf, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit soar from the glass of this fat, opulent, decadently intense wine, which has low acidity, tremendous purity, and hedonistic appeal.

Drink 2017-2036.

2013 STONES No. 1

100 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

Absolutely perfect is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1. The wine has that Mission Haut-Brion / Haut-Brion scorched-earth, gravelly, quarry-stone aromatics intermixed with blueberry, cassis and spring flowers. It is full-bodied with magnificent texture and concentration, stunning freshness, and a terrific finish that goes on for close to a minute. This is a surreal and compelling Cabernet Sauvignon.

Drink 2018-2045.

2014 STONES No. 2

97 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2 is from the Perrarus – Block 1 on Pritchard Hill at an elevation of 1,100+ feet. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clone 4, aged 20 months in 100% new French oak. This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon. Black as a moonless night, with notes of blueberry liqueur interwoven with white flowers, crushed rock, blackberries, white chocolate and a touch of toast, it is opulent and fleshy, with fabulous fruit, thickness and juiciness that give it its succulent style.

2013 STONES No. 2

98 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2 comes from the Houyi Vineyard – Perrarus Block and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clone 4. This is another near-perfect effort from winemaker Philippe Melka and the Fairchild team. Beautiful, sweet blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with floral notes, earthy soil undertones and forest floor notes are all present in this complex wine, which sports a full-bodied, mega-concentrated mouthfeel, but has no sense of heaviness or awkwardness.

Drink 2016-2045.

2014 STONES No. 3

98 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 3 comes from the Oakville Tench Vineyard, which is in a high-rent district and near Screaming Eagle and Harbison sites. This is a pure red soil area, and the result is a gravelly, opaque purple wine with pure blueberry and crème de cassis notes intermixed with some loamy soil undertones, Christmas fruitcake and spice box, followed by a full-bodied, opulent wine with adequate acidity and sweet, well-integrated tannin.

LasPiedrasVineyard

Tracing its history to the original Mexican land grants, the Las Piedras Vineyard’s history is integral to the Napa Valley’s rich traditions of grapegrowing and winemaking. Located in the Saint Helena appellation, the vineyard is aptly named for its rare profile of gravelly, well-draining soil, providing optimal conditions for the cultivation of highly concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.

Perrarus Block 1~ Pritchard Hill

One of the most coveted growing areas in all of Napa Valley, the Perrarus Blocks 1 & 2 on Pritchard Hill exhibit the extreme rocky minerality that has become a signature of the Stones wines. This Clone 4 selection exhibits dense, black fruit, crushed rock, and perfect acidities.

Perrarus Block 3
~ Oakville Tench Vineyard

Perrarus Block 3 from the Oakville Tench Vineyard may be the most significant and extreme vineyard of the Stones portfolio of vineyards. Sharing the fence line of Screaming Eagle, the vineyard soil resembles an ancient cobblestone street of red rock and minerals like no other vineyard in the Napa Valley. Also a Clone 4 selection, this site exhibits gravelly texture with some loamy soil undertones.

Stones is an exclusive, limited production portfolio of meticulously crafted Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Sourced from rarely experienced, distinctive Napa Valley vineyards, Stones wines offer our clientele a rare opportunity to experience the unique and varied terroir of the Napa Valley within a single, selective portfolio.

Stones wines are meticulously crafted by winemaker Philippe Melka, with a vision of expressing the distinctive character of the singular Napa Valley vineyards from which they are produced.
